Celtic adds Murphy from Sunderland

07/16/2010 - Glasgow, Scotland (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Celtic have completed the signing of Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy on a three-year contract.

The 27-year-old joins fellow Bhoys newcomers Charlie Mulgrew, Joe Ledley and Cha Du-Ri in Neil Lennon's squad ahead of the new Scottish Premier League season.

Murphy, who has won nine international caps for Republic of Ireland, started his career with Waterford United, before making the switch to the Black Cats in 2005.

He found himself out of Steve Bruce's first-team plans with Darren Bent, Kenwyne Jones and Fraizer Campbell ahead of him in the pecking order.

Now, following loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town last term, he has decided to join up with the Scottish giants after making 110 appearances and scoring 14 goals for the Wearside outfit.

The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds. Most sports fans would agree that these two teams top the list to win it all before the season even begins. And it is likely they will do so. The Bengals lost in the AFC Wild Card spot in a hard-fought battle against the New York Jets last season. Lest not forget the Pittsburgh Steelers, the XLII Super Bowl Champions… All these teams present interesting odds and matchups for the upcoming season, but the safest and surest bet seems to be with the Colts in the AFC South and the Cowboys in the NFC East.
